Bing AI will soon be available on Windows 11 Taskbar

Microsoft is prepared to force the new AI-infused Bing into Windows 11 with an update that will be released today, three weeks after it was first introduced. 

You can access all of Bing AI's new capabilities from the search box in the Windows 11 taskbar if you're using the Bing AI preview. Just picture a simplified variation of what we observed with the Bing AI on Edge: In addition to standard web searches, Bing's intelligent chatbot can answer natural language questions with conversational responses. 

You can still join Microsoft's waitlist if you don't currently have access to the new Bing.

Here, the motivation is rather obvious. Microsoft wants to integrate Bing into the very foundation of Windows 11 now that people are speaking more positively about it. 

There's no need to launch Edge or change your default web browser. The Bing AI preview was also made available by the corporation last week on Skype and its mobile apps. But more than just broadening access, we'll be paying close attention to how Microsoft develops Bing's capabilities while also attempting to rein in some of its undesirable behavior. 

Keep in mind that chatbots are simply very good predictive text generators, not truth-determiners.

Even if you don't care about Bing AI, this most recent Windows 11 upgrade is still brimming with interesting new features. For instance, Phone Link for iPhones, which enables calling and texting from within Windows, will be available for testing by Windows Insiders. (This comes after Microsoft just incorporated iCloud into the Pictures app for Windows 11). 

Android customers with Samsung phones who have long used Phone Link will be able to quickly activate their Wi-Fi hotspots and move their open browser tabs. The Microsoft approach will be fascinating to compare to Intel's Unison program, which allows calls, texts, and file synchronization between iPhones and some Windows 11 PCs.

With this update, Microsoft is also delving more deeply into "touch" experiences. The taskbar will automatically minimize if your computer is detachable or convertible so you have more screen space. 

You may access the taskbar normally by swiping up. This might be more manageable for certain users than having the taskbar completely disappear.

Additionally, Windows 11 is adding support for more braille displays, including three HumanWare "Designed for Surface" devices. Switching between Microsoft's built-in Narrator screen reader and alternatives will now be simpler. 

Additionally, Windows voice commands, which give you total control over your computer without a mouse or keyboard, are emerging from preview. With its 2022 Windows 11 update, Microsoft increased that functionality; as of right now, it seems to be significantly more robust.

Features of the new Windows 11 Update with Bing AI

Here is a brief summary of a few additional features that are included in today's Windows 11 update and will be made available to customers over the coming weeks. (As always, you can check the Windows Update program to see if it is available.)

• Tabs are now available in NotePad officially; they are no longer just for Windows Insiders.
• The fast settings in the taskbar now provide access to Windows Studio Effects, which includes AI-driven features like background blurring and eye contact during video chats.
• With the click of a button, you may immediately preview your video on Team's video chat in the taskbar.
• The Quick Help app is quicker, and you can rapidly choose between sharing your screen and having complete control over someone else's Laptop. (Fixing your parent's PC just become a little bit simpler.)
• More widgets are on the way, including ones from third parties like Meta and Spotify as well as Xbox Game Pass and Phone Link. (I have yet to observe anyone consistently using Windows 11's widgets in the two years since its debut.)
• You can now record your screen using the Snippet Tool.
• You can save a little more electricity with improved energy suggestions.
• You may now easily access Cloud PCs with the Windows 365 app, which is available in the Microsoft Store.
