On Google Search

14. One exciting development that users can expect to try in Search Labs is a new generative AI experience in Search, initially available in the US and in English only at launch. The feature takes search queries and uses AI to generate snapshots of key information, along with links for further exploration and suggested next steps. Users can then engage in a new conversational mode where they can ask Google more about the topic.

15. Another feature coming to Search Labs is a generative AI shopping experience built on Google’s Shopping Graph. When searching for a product, users will get a snapshot of noteworthy factors to consider, including products that fit their search, up-to-date reviews, ratings, and prices.

16. In addition to these new features, Google is also testing Code Tips, which provides pointers for writing better code, and Add to Sheets, which allows users to insert a search result directly into a spreadsheet and share it with friends.

17. Google is also testing a Perspectives filter in Search results, which lets users exclusively see firsthand or expert information from forums, social media sites, and video-sharing communities. With this feature, users can benefit from the experiences of others to inform their search results.

Workspace and Office

18. Google Workspace users have benefited from AI features in the past year, as they were able to write over 180 billion times with the help of AI. But this is just the beginning, as the company is now expanding the power of generative AI to all of the Workspace apps with Duet AI for Google Workspace.

19. Gmail users will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of AI-generated responses that take the context of email threads into consideration, making it easier to respond to messages on mobile devices.

20. Additionally, generative AI will be incorporated into Slides, allowing users to create images from text descriptions. With new AI tools in Sheets, data classification can be automated, and events and projects can be organized and analyzed faster.

21. In Meet, Google is introducing unique background generation for video calls, and Docs is receiving smart chips, variables, and templates to improve assisted writing. Users will soon see refined spell check and grammar suggestions in Docs, as well as a new proofread suggestion pane that helps with concise writing, avoiding repetition, and using a more formal or active voice.

24. Additionally, Google announced the ability to delete recent searches directly from Maps with just a tap.

25. In Google Photos, the company introduced Magic Editor, an experimental editing experience that allows users to reimagine different aspects of their photos. For example, they can change an overcast sky to a bright blue one or reposition the subject of a shot. The feature will be available later this year to select Pixel phone users.

26. Another exciting announcement is the Universal Translator, an experimental AI video dubbing service that helps experts translate a speaker’s voice and match their lip movements, which could revolutionize learning comprehension.
