Nintendo is finally adding Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games to its Switch Online service after years of speculation. Games from the company's early handhelds will be accessible on Switch starting today, it was announced at the most recent Nintendo Direct.

Tetris, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, Gargoyle's Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, and Kirby's Dream Land are just a few of the Game Boy games you can spend the rest of the week playing. The games enable two-player local and internet play, and you may play them with Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket, and Game Boy Color screen filters.

Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgames, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap are all GBA games that you may play right now. Both locally and online, four-player multiplayer is supported.

The standard edition of Switch Online will include the Game Boy games. To access the GBA ones, you must get the Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Later, more games for both platforms—including various Zelda games, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Metroid Fusion, and Fire Emblem—will be introduced.
