God of War's most recent installment, Ragnarok, has subsequently become a great hit on PlayStation since Sony earlier this year revealed that the God of War franchise would be turned into an Amazon Video series. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the series is now officially in production and that we have learnt more about what will happen.

The Norse mythology-based series will follow Kratos, The God of War, as he experiences roughly the same events as the 2018 reboot. He has given up his violent past in doing so he exiled himself to the Norse realm of Midgard.

According to Amazon's description,

Kratos fulfills his wife's last request to scatter her ashes from the tallest mountain by embarking on a perilous expedition with his estranged son. The journey will put Kratos' relationship with his son to the test and require him to fight brand-new demons and gods for the survival of the world.

Sony Pictures Television, Amazon Studios, and PlayStation Productions will collaborate to produce the television show. With the help of Oscar nominees Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man), who will handle writing and executive producing responsibilities, Rafe Judkins of The Wheel of Time will serve as the showrunner.

With the release of God of War: Ascension in 2013, the original God of War series, which is based on Greek mythology, came to an end (PS3). It was revived in 2018 with the Norse mythology-based God of War for the PlayStation 4, which produced the acclaimed God of War Ragnarök that was released last month.

Additionally, Amazon is creating a Fallout series for Prime, which began filming at the beginning of the year and should be released soon. The Last of Us (HBO), Halo (Paramount), and Horizon Zero Dawn are among more high-profile game-based TV programs that have already debuted or are on the way (Netflix).
