Iran blocks access to Instagram and Telegram Apps

The Iranian Government has shut down access to Instagram and Telegram apps as a way to prevent breakdown of law and order.


According to a report by a Media company, the Authorities has described the move as a way to "maintain tranquility and security of Society" due to the increased protest in the region.

Various sources have reported that the apps have been used to coordinate plans as well as sharing of photos and videos showing some demonstrations, which began as protests over economic inequality but have since grown in scope, taking aim at leading political figures like Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei  and President Hassan Rouhani.
